When Every CycleBecomes a Burden

Calm support for period pain in Berlin-Wilmersdorf

Cycle-Related Pain

When a Period Means More Than a Few Uncomfortable Days.

When cramps, nausea, back or leg pain determine entire days month after month, they should not be dismissed. At the conSenso® Practice in Berlin-Wilmersdorf, we support patients with severe period pain when the menstrual cycle regularly restricts work, sleep and everyday life.

Period pain—medically known as dysmenorrhoea—may remain confined to the lower abdomen or radiate into the back and legs. Nausea, diarrhoea, headaches, circulatory symptoms or a pronounced feeling of illness may also occur.

Pain during menstruation is common. Very severe or increasing symptoms do not simply have to be endured. They deserve careful gynaecological assessment and a precise look at everything else responding in the body.

How Period Pain May Be Experienced

When Pain Radiates

Period pain may feel cramping, dull, pulling or sharp. It often begins in the lower abdomen but may also be felt at the sacrum, in the groin, lower back or thighs.

Some patients can barely straighten up or move on these days. Others mainly experience a deep pulling sensation, pressure in the pelvis or the feeling that the entire lower body is holding.

When the Whole Body Responds

Symptoms are not always limited to pain. Nausea, diarrhoea, headaches, dizziness, circulatory difficulties or pronounced fatigue can add further strain to the cycle.

School, work, exercise, sleep and social commitments may then have to be reorganised around menstruation every month.

Dysmenorrhoea and Gynaecological Assessment

Severe Period Pain Is Not Simply Something to Endure.

For some patients, period pain has been present since the early years of menstruation without another condition being identified. For others, it begins later, changes or becomes stronger over time.

Endometriosis, adenomyosis, fibroids or other gynaecological causes may then play a role. Unusually heavy bleeding, pain outside menstruation or pain during sexual intercourse should also be medically assessed.

An existing diagnosis is taken into account. At the same time, other physical strains accompanying or intensifying the symptoms can be considered carefully.

Lower Abdomen · Back · Pelvic Floor · Anticipation of Pain

When Several Areas Hold

During painful cycles, not only the uterus and lower abdomen may respond. The abdominal wall, pelvic floor, sacrum, back, hips and breathing may change as well.

A pelvic floor that remains tense, a sensitive abdominal wall or tension in the back and groin may intensify the feeling that there is no space left in the pelvis.
